Which is more necessary for achieving the American Dream, a stronger community or more individualism?
"The choice is between strong communities and individualism. Think about it, what word is similar in spelling and meaning to community? The answer is communism. NOw you tell me, is communism or good old American freedom necessary to achieve the American Dream? Unless you happen to be a commie, I think the answer is clear. In fact, anyone who answers that communism is the right choice should be kidnapped in their sleep and thrown into Guantanamo Bay. Basically, what I'm saying is that strong communities bring on communism and we should strive to isolate ourselves and stay unique."

Bill Clinton...not well liked
In response to Bill Clinton's quote, "We need a new spirit of community, a sense that we are all in this together, or the American Dream will continue to wither..."
"The lack of individualism in modern socity [sic] is not only a burden but will lead to civil unrest..."
"P.S. Bill Clinton is an asshole."

The American Dream ~ be a part of a community, individually
Thesis: "To achieve the American Dream it is more important to have stronger individualism, rather than a strong community."
Conclusion: "I think that the most beneficial way to achieve the American Dream is to find a common ground. Find a community of individuals who want the same thing you do. This way you will push yourself to the limit and work harder and ultimately achieve your goal."

So that's what it is...I always wondered...
"It is the aspect of being different that makes non-conformity so sought after."

A Modern Classic
"Anyone who reads Rising Sun can learn a great deal and automatically becomes more knowledgeable and intellectual just by having read it...I strongly believe it should be considered a classic."
Life is like a bowl of cherries....or something
"Many people never commit to taking control of there life and 'float through life like a piece of shit,' but some do live up to taking control and making something of him or herself."

Watch Your Language
Exam directions: "Restate your thesis statement in your conclusion using different language."
One student asked, "Ms. Connon, do you mean, like, Spanish or something?"
"Yes," I said. "Is that a problem?"

"Yes," I said. "Is that a problem?"
"Distance" too distant?
"The ending fits the story perfectly with the boy reminiscing and the daughter about to go hunting with him."
The Boring American Dream
The concluding paragraph of an essay:
"Neither of the men were perfect. Gatsby might of had people thinking he was, but the only thing in life he wanted was Daisy and he never had gotten that chance. Willy was far from achieving this dream because he let everything stand in the way of him. No one should try to achieve this dream because in the end in only hurts people. No one will ever be perfect and perfection is boring. The American Dream is boring."

Of Want and Wanting
"Willy constantly tells Biff this throughout the book that as long as you are well liked you will not have to want because you will get what you want with out wanting."
